In the warm morning-sun a tall harvester machine slowly rolls over the vineyard with rows full of ripe juicy grapes.
The flexible PVC “elephant ears” gently open like a curtain. Behind the ears, the grapes are picked, taken upward on strong conveyor belts, and sorted efficiently into the side bins.
Probably not as romantic of a story as in the “good-old-days” hand-picking routine, but this fast, mechanized picking of grapes is key for providing a consistent quality of the wine.
